Clothing for the Trail

  • 1 pair hiking boots
  • 2 pair lightweight hiking socks – wool or synthetic wool
  • 1 pair of sandals – to wear around camp
  • 2 t-shirts
  • 1 long sleeve “long-john” type shirt
  • 1 fleece – serves as pillow and towel
  • 1 outer shell (jacket)
  • 2 pair underwear – wear one, rinse the other one out
  • 2 pair hiking pants
  • 1 light shell or plastic poncho for rain
  • 1 Bandanna or cap

Gear for the Trail

  • 1 Backpack
  • 1 Tent
  • 1 Backpack cover for rain
  • 1 pair hiking poles
  • 1 sleeping bag
  • 1 sleeping pad
  • 1 headlamp
  • 2 liter/quart water capacity
  • 1 plate or bowl and eating utensil
  • 4 Clips to attach things to exterior of pack if needed (I use carabiners. Straps, twine work too)
  • All purpose tool
